Today we went to the University of Illinois
Veterinary Teaching Hospital to take part in research ...
We had our eyes checked for Pigmentary Keratitis!
GUESS WHAT???
Dr. Amber Labelle told us that we are rare!
Approximately 88% of the pugs she has tested
are affected by this eye disease.
Liberty's eyes are the best.
Zoe's and Webster's eyes are about the same.
And Peyton's eyes could be affected at a later time
but right now they are still good.
She suggested that Peyton have his eyes checked in a year
to stay on top of this and hopefully avoid future problems.
Mom and Dad were really happy!!!!
Mama forgot her camera so we didn't get any pictures.
Dr. Labelle was wonderful ... she gave us treats!
If you are going to the Milwaukee Pug Fest next month
you can take part in this awesome research.
Dr. Labelle is going to be there.
Check out her blog at
You can still get signed up. It's FREE!!!
Tomorrow is Earth Day!
We're going to plant our bleeding heart that
mama bought to plant in Payton's memory.
We also got some red geraniums for the
deck ... in memory of Yoda!
Until then .... Zoe, Peyton, Webster & Liberty
Thats good news! We have never had Tubby or Ping's eyes s checked but a specialist but at 11 and 9 they seems to see, and hear, fine and our vet says their eyes look great.

We're glad Tubby and Ping are doing well ... mama says she hopes we will be doing as well as they are when we are their ages but she's not ready for that, yet! She already said time goes by way too fast as it is ...

PS ... bet all of the Urban Hounds are excited to meet their baby brother - only a couple more weeks, right!?!
What wonderful news! Mack has it, mild right now.
ReplyDeleteHappy planting.
Drools and licks,
Minnie and Mack
We're sorry to hear that Mack has this awful eye disease! Hopefully they will find a cure for it soon ...

Great way to bring awareness to have our big brown buggy eyes checked. My Uncle was a DVM at the same University. Its a small world.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at your shoot. You will love Miss Amanda & Puglet. Enjoy every moment. Mine was a priceless moment, can't wait to hear about yours.

Mama was really happy and we got some yummy treats so we have to say it was worth it having our eyeballs photographed. Talk about some close-ups ... mama said they were scary pictures!

Yay~ Good for you guys.
ReplyDeleteMy left eye is not functioning well - when I was in the stupid mill, noone took care of me nor my eye. Right eye is ok, but not so much. Let's eat cookies now. (I know Cookies got nothing to do with eyes, but heck, why not??)
Sammy
We agree, Sammy ... cookies make everything better, right!?! Let's all have some cookies NOW!
